Donna | Swap Shop Volunteer

Donna | Swap Shop Volunteer

Donna volunteers in our Essential Furniture and Swap shop (Charity shop) activities and is part of our volunteer program.

“Volunteering at Eternal Benefits has had an amazing effect on my life. Suffering from a debilitating sickness, I have not able to work for a number of years. Since I’ve been volunteering at Eternal Benefits everything has changed. Before coming I struggled to leave the house, now I help manage the shop and train other volunteers who were just like me. I am still ill, but I’m getting better. I have found faith, hope and a purpose since being here and can’t wait for what’s around the corner.”

Michelle | Mum

Michelle | Mum

Michelle has two boys who attend ‘Respect’   She has got more and more involved with our activities as the years have gone on.

“The boys love coming to Respect, as a mum I’m thankful because it allows the kids to have fun and socialize in a safe environment. The boys get to go on trips they wouldn’t normally go on, they get to learn new skills like cooking and when they’re feeling adventurous, they might even sing a song on the karaoke!”

Billy | Outreach Worker

Billy | Outreach Worker

Billy is a outreach worker and team member at Eternal Benefits.

I am the outreach worker at Eternal Benefits and I am looking forward to reaching out into the community and getting to know the area and all the people. I was born and raised in a good family in the East of Hull on Ings Estate. My mum was a dinner lady for a lot of years and my dad still does air-con engineering today. Throughout my school years, I was always a bit of a joker, always trying to annoy teachers and mess about, so much so you could spell fudge with my GCSE results. My faith is a big part of my life since just over a year ago I gave my life to Jesus, after endless seeking of more fulfilment when I left school and started to wonder what my purpose was in life. I have never felt so good in my life until I finally decided to believe in Jesus and seek Him. I investigated so much beforehand such as UFO stuff, conspiracy theories, Illuminati, New Age stuff but never found anything worth pursuing. What opened my eyes to Jesus and what he did for all of humanity is when I ended up coming across a preaching video on YouTube speaking about repentance and all that God did on the cross for all our sins. This got my mind thinking because I always believed in God, or a higher power, but when I learned about Jesus my eyes were truly opened. I finally decided to repent and give my life to Jesus just over a year and a half ago and I have found that nothing is greater in life than growing closer to God.
